Youth Services (S4TL) Update

This year’s S4tl was held from 6-19th to 6-25th and 160 students were registered to attend. Each year our club interviews of Plant City High School students and select an individual to attend. This year our club sponsored Taylor Adams. Taylor recently visited our club to report on her experience and to thank our club for sponsoring her. I asked Taylor to comment on her experiences at S4TL.

The following was provided by her:

This summer, I had the privilege of attending S4TL, or Seminar For Tomorrow’s Leaders, which was held at Florida Southern College. This week long leadership challenge was an amazing experience and I am especially grateful that the Plant City Rotary Club selected me to attend. The goal of S4TL was to put together a group of young leaders, and through different speakers and activities, increase our awareness of our own leadership qualities and how to use our leadership for the betterment of our schools and communities. Every day we had guest speakers, and participated in rap sessions. At the rap sessions, we got to discuss current issues with other student groups and Rotarians. It was very insightful to hear the opinions of different students and generations. Overall, I learned that a true leader is not afraid to ask for help, is true to their self, and is willing to serve others. I encourage Plant City Rotary to keep sending students to S4TL. The experience and knowledge that I gained by attending will help me continue to grow in leadership and service as I finish my high school career and move on to college and, eventually, the work world. Thank you again for your support and participation in such a wonderful program. -Taylor Adams
